What does a retirement coach actually do?

The short answer

A retirement coach works on the side of retirement your portfolio can't touch: who you are without the job title, what your days are for, how your marriage handles 24/7 togetherness, and where connection comes from once the office is gone. Good coaching is a guided process with real exercises, not a pep talk.

Coaching versus advising

A financial planner answers 'can we afford it?' A coach helps you figure out what 'it' is. Certified coaching is a discipline: structured questions and exercises that surface what actually matters to you, then a process for building it into your weeks. The magic isn't the coach's answers; it's that you finally say your own out loud.

We think the two belong under one roof, which is why Rc and Deana hold both credentials. A plan without a life attached is a spreadsheet; a vision without funding is a wish.

What it looks like here

Coaching runs through everything we do: the Next Five priorities exercise that starts a planning relationship, the Unwrapping Retirement guided course with personal coach responses, and the annual review where the plan gets re-pointed at whatever you've discovered since. The discovery never ends. Neither does the plan.
